Parasail FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):
Q: Do I need any prior experience to parasail?
A: No, if you can walk onto our parasail boat, and if you can sit down, you should be able to Parasail.
Q: How does the whole thing work? Do we have to get wet?
A: Each Parasail boat has a self hydraulic winch launch and recovery system on the boat. You simply take off and land directly from the back of the boat. You don’t have to get wet. Getting wet can be half the fun. We do offer touch ‘n go’s, where we slow down and touch your toes in the water.
Q: Are there any restrictions on weight?
A: Our minimum weight to fly alone is around 115 -125 lbs., but it does increase and decrease throughout the day; depending on wind and sea conditions. The maximum combined weight is approximately 450 lbs., but it also goes up and down throughout the day. Wind and weather conditions change and will determine if individuals can fly single or (tandem) together, or a triple.
Q: Are there any age restrictions to parasail?
A: Anyone under 18 yrs must have an adult signature on the waiver.
Q: How long is each trip?
A: We believe in Truth in Advertising!!! Each flight is 10 -12 minutes flight time... takeoff to landing. This is backed by a Money Back Guarantee!!! The whole adventure will take about an hour from our dock location, once you get on the boat.
Q: Can two people fly together? What about three people?
A: Yes, most of our customers fly together as a tandem. We can also fly a triple depending on total weight.
Q: How high do we go up when we fly?
A: We do one flight and that is 800 feet of tow line... the maximum allowed by the FAA in the USA. This will put you at approximately 450 - 500 feet vertical.
Q: Are there sharks in the water that might bite me?
A: No one parasailing has ever been attacked by a shark or any other fish that I know of. Parasailing takes place on the Gulf of Mexico, and sharks do live in the Gulf, but, we can confidently say they have never been a problem.
Q: What happens if the tow line snaps or the boat breaks down?
A: To ensure this never happens, we have a rigorous maintenance program for all our equipment. In the unlikely event of problems with the boat or tow line, the parasail would gently float down and you would gently land in the water.
Q: What kind of training does it take to become a Captain?
A: You must have sea time on a vessel and pass a rigorous United States Coast Guard exam. It takes a minimum of one thru two years of “sea-time” just to be eligible for this exam..... depending on thee license you are applying for.
Q: What if I am pregnant?
A: Unfortunately our Insurance will not allow anyone that is pregnant to parasail or even go on the boat as an observer. Please come back and fly with us at a later time.
Q: What if I have back, neck or spinal injuries.
A: Unfortunately do to the bumpiness of the boat ride we do not suggest you parasail or ride along as an observer, if your problems are serious.
Q: What if we are physically challenged, can we parasail?
A: Each situation is different and will be treated as such. But in most all cases we will accommodate you and your wish to parasail. Our crew can assist passengers in most handicap situation’s. I can't remember ever having to turn anyone down in 19 years of doing this.
Q: Can we take a camera on the boat or up in the air?
A: Please feel free to bring a camera or a video camera on the boat. However, please be aware we are not responsible for any damage your camera may incur. For the best pictures and memories, we strongly recommend purchasing our camera package and let our professional’s take your high quality pictures while you are parasailing.
Q: What should I wear parasailing?
A: We suggest since the air and ocean temperatures are so warm that you come prepared to fly in your bathing suit. Although you may wear anything you prefer.
Q: Are reservations recommended?
A: Yes, due to the popularity of parasailing, and limited space available, we suggest making your reservations 1-3 days in advance.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We require 24 hours notice of a cancellation for a complete refund. Of course exceptions are made for emergency situations on your part.
Q: Is there a photo package we can purchase?
A: Yes, we have a Nikon camera with a 250 mm zoom and 18.0 Megapixels. This package includes 75-250 pictures of your flight(s). We give you the SD card with the pictures at the end of your parasail adventure.
